Born and raised in Seattle, Commissioner Johnson took his first job after graduation from Seattle University with a small accounting firm in Walla Walla. It didn’t take long before he realized this would be the place he would call home. Eight years after taking the job, Commissioner Johnson purchased the firm and spent the next 30 years as owner of Jim Johnson & Co., Accounting and Tax Services. While owning and operating his business he also became very active in the local community serving on many boards and commissions, coaching youth sports and being an active member of the local business community. In 2012, Jim was chosen to complete the term of a County Commissioner who retired early. That was followed by the sale of his business and two successful re-election campaigns. As a County Commissioner Jim has been an active board member of several statewide organizations including the Washington Association of Counties and Washington Counties Insurance Fund. Jim is proud to have been appointed as a Commissioner representing Counties on the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and looks forward to using his knowledge and experience to make travel in Washington State as safe as it can possibly be. This appointment is personal as well as Jim was the victim of a hit and run driver as a nine-year-old walking home from school. Jim and his wife, Linda have four children and have been blessed with seven grandchildren.
