The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) is our state’s designated highway safety office. We share a vision with numerous other state and local public agencies. That vision is to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero by 2030. The WTSC Director is the Governor’s Highway Safety Representative, which is a designated position each state is required to have in order to qualify for federal traffic safety funding.

External Relations Division
The External Relations Division houses the WTSC communications team.
We support traffic safety programs with media campaigns designed to promote positive, pro-social driver behavior. We strive to build our creative capabilities by providing targeted, coordinated messages to our partners. We respond to requests from citizens and new organizations. We are also the primary contact for any legislative need.

Programs & Services
The Programs and Services Division (PASD) has the primary responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating the federally-mandated traffic safety programs in Washington.
PASD staff consist of the Program Director, a number of Program Managers, and three Program Specialists who are responsible for the day-to-day management of the entire life-cycle of grant-awarded projects, from advising on project proposals to close-out of the final project.

Provides financial administration for all Commission-related business.
Research & Data Division
Our Research and Data Division (RADD) analyzes crash data and conducts traffic safety research.
RADD codes the fatal crash data that goes to the national Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). We provide statistics and reports for other state agencies, as well as for the news media, private entities, and the public.

Provides information technology services for all Commission-related business.
