In 2021, representatives from the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) met with law enforcement officers and leaders from across the sate to explore ways to strengthen traffic safety engagement. From these discussions, the Traffic Safety Champions training event was created.
Traffic Safety Champions are law enforcement professionals who prioritize traffic safety and work to make traffic enforcement a consistent part of their daily duties.

This training event offers professional development focused on best practices in traffic safety, legislative and judicial updates, officer well-being, and leadership skills.
Held each fall and spring – typically in October and April – the events are often hosted in Wenatchee, though locations may vary. The conference is designed for law enforcement professionals dedicated to making roadways safer.
If you have questions or would like to be added to the distribution list, please contact Washington’s Statewide Law Enforcement Liaison, Bob Thompson, bdthompson@wtsc.wa.gov.
