Returning Your Ballot
Washington conducts elections by mail. Registered voters can return their ballots by mail or use an official ballot drop box.
If you return your ballot by mail, the Washington Secretary of State recommends mailing it more than a week before Election Day. You can also check the status of your ballot through VoteWA.gov.
Mailing Your Ballot
The U.S. Postal Service says changes to its mail transportation operations may mean that the date on a postmark does not always match the day a mailpiece was collected by a carrier or dropped off at a postal facility.
If you need the postmark date to match the date you mail your ballot, USPS recommends taking it to a Postal Service retail location and requesting a manual, local postmark at the counter.
