Region 13

Bio: Maria Lopez is the Target Zero Manager in Region 13. Maria has worked with Yakima Valley Conference of Governments (YVCOG) as their Community Engagement Coordinator.  She recently worked on a Law Enforcement Grant which included reengaging Law Enforcement with the community, a Housing Action Plan Grant with six cities in the Yakima Valley, worked with the City of Wapato regarding a future Park’s Plan and is currently working with eight cities within the Yakima Valley providing a survey regarding Climate Element.

Maria continues working with homeowners on creating a Block Watch in their neighborhoods and participates with law enforcement in engaging with the communities by providing education on crime prevention and community safety.

She has over 20 years working with people from a diverse population.  Her experience has been working with crime victims to educate them on how to navigate the legal system. She has also educated law enforcement, prosecutors, schools, agencies, and churches on what to look for when it comes to Human Trafficking.
